15 October Meeting

  • This week Kaikohe Rotarians hosted our friends from Waipapa Rotary for an evening of fun and bowls. Just over a year ago Waipapa invited us for an evening at Kerikeri Bowling Club where our lack of skill at the game of bowls was very much in evidence. This week we reciprocated Waipapa's hospitality at Kaikohe Bowling Club.

  • Unfortunately, the weather was not the best. However the rain cleared in time for us to move outside after a superb dinner. The slower greens probably suited Kaikohe's style of play and we were able to avoid the humiliation of our previous encounter. But in the final analysis, the score didn't matter. It was all about having fun and enjoying fellowship with fellow Rotarians.

  • A special thank you to President Fred and his team from Waipapa and to Terry from Kaikohe Bowling Club for supplying equipment and coaching us in the finer nuances of bowls. Our treasurer Jim Shaw (pictured) was among those who displayed fine form on the greens.
