Changeover Report

  • Each year Rotary comes together to recognise the handing over of the presidential chain. It's called changeover and reflects renewal and change within Rotary.

  • Last week Kaikohe Rotarians and friends came together at Northland College to witness the transfer of the chains of office from outgoing President Colin Patterson to new President Valerie Dickson. It was also a chance for the club to thank all its members and supporters for their hard work over the last 12 months and to recognise a few for their outstanding contributions over many years.

  • Vivienne Davies and Cam Sutherland were awarded honorary membership of Kaikohe Rotary, while Vivienne received a Paul Harris Sapphire. Earlier in the day, Ray Davies - who was unable to make it to changeover - received both honours from President Colin and new Assistant Governor Liz Henley.

  • After receiving the chains, President Valerie revealed she had been a little distracted after her home was broken into earlier in the week. But she thanked everyone for their support.

  • It was a fantastic evening and thanks are due to Northland College for providing the venue and to its hospitality students and staff for putting together a sumptuous dinner that was enjoyed by all.

  • Pictured are (front) incoming President Valerie and outgoing President Colin shaking hands. Behind them are outgoing Assistant Governor Glenis Sutherland and new Assistant Governor Liz Henley.
