Heritage New Zealand Signs ProjectOn Saturday (21 October) Rotarians Jim Shaw (pictured), Noel Birchall and Colin Patterson helped Heritage New Zealand install four signs identifying four historic sites in the Mid North. The new signs - all with Rotary logos - were part funded by Kaikohe Rotary and replace signs that have long passed their use-by dates. The Far North is the cradle of New Zealand history. The new signs will help residents and visitors alike find places where this history took place - such as the site of the original Waimate North courthouse and the route of the first road connecting Kaikohe and Kerikeri. We had arranged with Grainger Brown of Heritage New Zealand to put up six signs. Unfortunately, approval from NZTA for two signs located near state highways did not come through. They will be put up once approval is received.
