News and Notices

  • Kaikohe Agricultural Pastoral and Horticultural Show - Saturday 21 January 2017. As usual Kaikohe Rotary is catering for judges and running the canteen. This is great exposure and fundraising for the club. We need as many helpers as possible.

Christmas Function

  • Kaikohe Rotarians and supporters came together at Wildspur to celebrate both the festive season and a year of Rotary making a difference in Kaikohe.

  • After pre-dinner drinks and fellowship, Rotarians were treated to a sumptuous buffet prepared by our excellent hosts Vivienne and Ray Davies.

  • Rotarians donated Christmas gifts and perishable food items to go to the Kaikohe Women's Refuge. Rotarian Liz Henley (pictured) instigated the call for donations and told us that Kaikohe Women's Refuge has 40 families on its books and most will have a hard time over Christmas. Members voted to donate $200 so the refuge can provide more Christmas cheer to families and children in need.

  • We looked back on a an active year for Rotary in Kaikohe. Once again the Traverse was a big success. We gave dictionaries to Year 4 students at local schools and four scholarships so that senior students can experience life under sail on the R Tucker Thompson. We've run successful fundraisers at the Bay of Islands Show and the Kaikohe Show and helped Blood Day, Blood Pressure checks, Pink Ribbon and Daffodil Day among others.

  • We also farewelled President-elect Stan Adams who passed away suddenly in April, while our-longest serving member Bruce Gillies left in July to live in Auckland after 53 years as a member. Both are missed.

  • Thanks to everyone who put in time and effort to help Rotary in Kaikohe in 2016. We'll see everyone in 2017, with our first big event being the Kaikohe Show on 21 January.
