30 November Meeting

  • This week Kaikohe Rotary had the pleasure of hearing from our newest Rotarian, Isaac Vujcich. Isaac was born and brought up locally and went to Kaikohe West School and Okaihau College. After leaving school Isaac was not sure what he wanted to do, so he joined his parents' business, Bay of island Computers, as a computer technician. After 18 months he decided he had had enough of IT, so went to university and obtained a degree in business studies.

  • After finishing his studies, Isaac had the dilemma of deciding what he wanted to do with the he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Some holiday work on his father's farm gave him a taste of farming which he enjoyed, so he decided to make it his career. Isaac then went to his uncle's dairy farm in Oxford, North Canterbury, to gain further experience. While he was only planning to spend a few weeks there, his contribution became so valuable he was taken on as a trainee and stayed for two years.

  • In 2014 Isaac won the Canterbury-North Otago competition for Dairy Trainee of the Year and took part in the national final in Auckland.

  • Isaac has since returned home and his managing his father's farm and has already had success in increasing the weights of its deer herd.

  • We are are delighted Isaac has decided to join Kaikohe Rotary and know he is a valuable acquisition. Parents John and Elodie have many reasons to be proud of him.
