1 June 2016 Meeting

  • Caylynn Titore and Rima Selwyn are two Kaikohe teens with great futures ahead of them. Recently Kaikohe Rotary sponsored the two Northland College students for a voyage on the sailing ship R Tucker Thompson.

  • Speaking to Rotarians last week, Caylynn and Rima admitted to being noted landlubbers and before they the ship sailed admitted to having a few misgivings about departing dry land. But in Rima's case the sight of President Don turning up at this home with his bus helped convince him to go ahead.

  • During their voyage the R Tucker Thompson stopped off at a number of offshore islands where Caylynn and Rima and took part part in conservation and clean-up projects. The pair quickly adapted to the routines of life on a sailing ship, including 6.30am swims each morning and climbing to the top of 30-metre-masts to change sails. Congratulations, Caylynn and Rima. You have been distinguished representatives of Kaikohe Rotary.
