21 October Meeting Past District Governor Merv Huxford is a passionate Rotarian. And he's also passionate about hockey. Last Wednesday Merv and partner Bronwyn Ellison were the guests of Kaikohe Rotary. It was just a few weeks since we last saw Merv, when he brought a team of young hockey players up from the Hibiscus Coast. The youngsters experienced a stay at a local marae arranged by President Don. After playing on Saturday they took part in the Traverse on the following day. The visit was a big success and Merv says it will be repeated in 2016. Wearing another hat as trustee of the APEC Trust, Merv presented an agreement that will enable Rotary to offer four scholarships a year for local secondary students to sail on the R Tucker Thompson. Kaikohe Rotarians accepted the agreement by acclamation. Thank you, Merv. You're a credit to Rotary and you're always welcome in Kaikohe.
