13 August Meeting Report (Reporter - Don)

  • Apologies - Ray,  Bruce and Elizabeth, John Vujcich.

  • Guests - Paulene Malpas and Mary Groom and college students who came to support the speech contestants Kahu Cassidy and Paerangi Kopa.

  • Kahu’s topic was “Life as a teenage mum” and Paerangi’s topic was “You’ve come too far not to go further. You’ve done too much not to do more”.

  • Following the prepared speeches both contestants gave an impromptu speech on “Our home town”.

  • Congratulations go to both students for a fine effort, and we wish our winner, Paerangi Kopa, all the best when he competes with students throughout the North at the finals in Whangarei on Wednesday 20 August.
