23 April Meeting Report Guest: Kelly – Rotary Youth Leadership Award participant Apologies: Valerie, Don, Helen and John, John V. Reminder about the Conference this coming weekend. Diamond Jubilee: Members have been emailed a spreadsheet to vote for 20 nominees. Can be returned by hard copy or online, then the committee will select nominees by popular vote. Dictionaries are ready for distribution. Members are suggested to pair up for visiting schools. Bill: Tree Planting Sunday 4th May 2pm at the RSA. As many as possible to attend, bring spade, bring plate for afternoon tea. Also need 2 strong guys to plant the kauri trees, which also need support posts. Commemorative Plaque has been costed, with negotiations ongoing. Need more discussion for the format for the plaque, also strapping is required for supporting the trees. Liz: Jubilee function now to be held on 17th May, with Eric Rush confirmed as guest speaker, Wildspur confirmed as caterer, tickets cost $25.00 per person. A volunteer is required to prepare an article in the local newspaper, and Facebook. Members to hand out advertisements, and talk to people to attend. Bruce G introduced guest speaker Kelly - 2002 Rotary Youth Leadership Award participant which involved a week away from her family at a camp. Kelly discovered how to strive for success, and learnt life building skills, which transformed her views. Kelly is now a Community Board member and chairs the Arts Council. Donna thanked Kelly for her informative talk. - Sue provided the meeting closure.
