27 November Meeting Report

  • Notices

    • Six members are going to the Area One dinner on Saturday.

    • Members who can help at the Christmas Parade to meet at Ngaire’s shop at 4:30pm.

    • Exchange student Fran Beltran is with us 13-17 December. Glenis is coordinating his programme including a barbecue at her place on Friday 13 December to which she is inviting Monita and family, and Northland College students who have been involved with Rotary during the year.

    • The club’s end of year dinner is at the RSA on 18 December. $20 each. It is important to advise Noel of numbers attending.

    • Val is coordinating a $10 Christmas Gift exchange.

    • Christmas Puddings have arrived. $20 each. See Bill.

    • Literacy Day 2014 will be Saturday 5 April.

    • 2014 marks the club’s 60th anniversary. How will we celebrate?

  • Sue was our speaker and she spoke about her new role at the Pioneer Village

    • TV3 is planning a happening at the Pioneer Village - come along at 7:30pm on Friday 6 December.

    • Lots of things happening including weddings, Christmas parties, school groups.

    • Lots of work to be done including the restoration of the Ngapuhi Station, other buildings being renovated, gardens, painting (a possible Rotary project?).

30 November Area One Meeting in Kaitaia

  • Glenis, Cam, Liz, Malcolm, Noel and Don joined a group of about 40 at the Kaitaia Dalmation Club Hall.

  • A great meal was enjoyed by all.

  • It was good to catch up with members from other clubs.

  • Guest speaker Monty Knight demonstrated how much a small town boy with vision and drive could achieve. His award winning Okahu wines are being exported around the world and are making a mark in places such as China and Canada.
