News and Notices Link to the Meals on Wheels Roster for 25-29 November - Volunteers still needed. Kaikohe Christmas Parade - Friday 29 November 5:00pm. Rotary volunteers needed to rope off the streets, man the intersection of Mangakahia Road and Broadway to turn the floats around and help keep the public behind the ropes. Area One Dinner - Kaitaia - Saturday 30 November - 6:00pm.

20 November Meeting Report (Reporter - Stan) Guests: Ursula Beazley, Leeann Rakete, Sharon Cooper, Zadkiel Beazley-Tango, Te Ariki Beckham, Jessie Wilson. Make ups: those members attending the Blood Bank service during the week. Members felt there is a need to promote the service when in town as the numbers were down this year. Members attending the Kaitaia combined dinner are 2 with 2 further possible. Glenis is arranging car pooling. Christmas function is to be held at Kaikohe RSA on 18th December. Style will be a social event. Those attending are asked to bring a present to $10. Meetings will resume on 15th January 2014. Kaikohe show is scheduled for 10th January. The BBQ from Bunnings has been booked. The Christmas Parade to be held on 29th November – roster is available (see above). Volunteers are needed for intersection control, rope in the public area, and people control. Rotary Conference early bird enrolment has been extended to assist members attending. An exchange student has accepted the invitation to visit in December. Glenis is arranging a BBQ and requests members attending to bring salads etc to assist with catering. John and Helen will host a trip to Kaitaia on the Friday. Members may be interested to visit the new Pioneer Village website. Noel’s father features. Bill advised that Christmas puddings are still being organised. Valerie was the 5 min speaker. The topic outlined her thoughts re Corrections Department system failings based on her observations. Guest speakers Ursula, Leann and Sharon spoke of their current trials of computer equipment in teaching special needs children. They discussed the pros and cons of the computer equipment. Current trials include I-pad, desktop, netbook units. The units remain at the school. Funding will be sought for the equipment. Noel thanked the guests for informing the club of their program. Ray gave the closure.
