9 October Meeting Report Apologies - Ray, Frank, Keith, Alan. Guests - Monita Skipworth, Matewai Cruickshank, Cam Sutherland, Jessie Wilson, Kaya Tobin. Make-ups - Elizabeth and Bill at the Blood Pressure promotion. Thanks to the Meals on Wheels volunteers. The Breast Cancer Appeal is on Friday 11 October. There will be a Combined Meeting with Kaikohe Lions at 6:00pm 23 October at The Hubb, Northland College. The guest speaker is Jim Luders, Northland College Principal. We have been asked to assist with the Kaikohe Christmas Parade - 29 November. The club agreed to hold the Okaihau Kaikohe Traverse again in 2014. Five Minute Speaker told members about Clarks Escapades. Guest Speaker Monita Skipworth is a senior student at Okaihau College and is going to France as an Rotary Exchange student. Monita lives with her family at Matene Road Tautoro. Her parents are Garry Skipworth and Matewai Cruickshank. She spent her early years in Hawkes Bay where she attended Kohanga Reo and Kura Kaupapa Māori. She got the inspiration to apply to be a Rotary Exchange Student after an exchange student spoke to their school when she was in Year 9.
In thanking Monita, Bruce Gillies noted that she was the 22nd Exchange student who had spoken to the club.
