18 September Meeting Report

  • Apologies received from Frank, Don, Sue and Liz.

  • Noel advised that prospective  member John Vujcich had suffered a serious accident during the weekend.

  • 5th  October is the date for public blood pressure checks outside New World Kaikohe from 10am – 2pm.  Volunteers are required to work with St Johns staff.

  • Feedback from one of the teachers working at Ngawha Prison.  Teachers are very grateful for the dictionaries, and making good use of them.  Important for those receiving tuition to get all possible help.

  • Elizabeth advised that cartoon books will be available again this year.  Orders will be taken up to 1st November.

  • Jim advised that the traverse roster has been finalised.  The indicated time reflects the time to be at the allocated location.

  • Keith  thanked members who assisted with duties last week.

  • Kerikeri Rotary Club is planning to sponsor Monita Skipworth from Okaihau College as an exchange student.

  • Guests for the evening were students who attended Northtec Science and Technology program.  Four students attended, and gave an interesting presentation of the program.

  • The program has been running for 3 years for the science program and 1 year for the technology program.  The program is open to year 11 students.  Experiments were conducted in both the laboratory and the field.  The next program is scheduled for 9 – 11 July 2014.
