4 September Meeting Report Guests - Helen and John Ellis, Leonie Bedggood. The Secondary School Speech Contest is postponed to next week - 11 September. The students who attended the Northtec Science and Technology Extravaganza will be our guests on 18 September. The Daffodil Day Breakfast was a success with about 160 attendees (notwithstanding not being mentioned in the local paper!). $2,300 was raised for the Cancer Foundation. The Traverse Committee is now meeting weekly. The club has agreed to support outgoing Exchange Student Monita Skipworth from Tautoro. Monita is deputy head girl at Okaihau College. The DARE annual meeting has been postponed to 25 September. Guest Speaker Leonie Bedggood spoke about her early days in Whangarei and Wellington. Leonie has lived in Waimate North for 30 years. Genealogy is one of her many interests. She displayed some interesting artifacts and photographs related to the recent demolition of the Bedggood Cottage at Waimate North. The Waimate Mission House has a new roof and the reopening will be celebrated on the weekend of 14-15 September.
