There will be no club meeting on Wednesday 7 August (go to the Mid-Winter Christmas Celebration instead). Meals on Wheels We have the privilege of delivering Meals on Wheels 5-9 August 2013. 24 July Meeting Report Guests - Ngaire Powdrill, Donna Allpress, Jessie Wilson, Kaz Chamberlain. President Glenis reported on the Northland College students involvement in the Northtec Science and Technology Extravaganza. The students were diffident about going, but really excited when they were picked up. A very worthwhile experience. Murray Neighbour is producing a slide show, and will visit our club with the students some time soon. President Glenis issued a challenge to all members to find sponsors for prizes for the Kaikohe Rotary Okaihau Kaikohe Traverse. Email her (president@kaikoherotary.org) to tell her who you plan to approach so that there are no double ups. A message has been received from Grant Smith asking for support for the Cure Kids $10 to Queenstown Challenge. The club has agreed to support the Northland College Waifencing project - up to $500. Kaikohe Rotary Club Subscriptions for 2013-2014 is the same as for last year - $250 (or $125 per half year). Members can pay by direct credit to account number 12-3097-0118980-00, or pay Treasurer Jim by cash or cheque at a meeting. Bill reminded members about the Midwinter Christmas Celebration on Saturday 3 August. Thirty-five extra chairs needed - available from Pioneer Village. Five Minute Speaker Bruce brought along a mounted “Bosun’s Kit” (rope splicing tools) that was donated to the Heritage Kaikohe Pioneer Village by Ray Squires. Guest Speaker Kaz Chamberlain gave a moving account of the many challenges of her study leave year culminating in the award of a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership.
