  • Guests Louis and Sue Toorenberg.

  • Bill returns to the club after a holiday in Phuket. He brought a banner from the Patong Beach Rotary Club.

  • Notices

    • President Noel advised members that Ray Davies is in Auckland Hospital’s ward 42 recovering from open heart surgery.

    • The Hospice Shop in Kaikohe is seeking volunteers.

    • Members are encouraged to support the Community Planting Day - Monument Hill - 1:00pm - 1 June.

    • Marshalls for the Northern Crossing on Saturday 18 May - Noel to e-mail instructions.

    • Don and Glenis to attend the Leaders Elect Training in Whangarei on Saturday 18 May.

    • Incoming District Governor Phil Ashton is visiting the club on Tuesday 9 July (We agreed to change our club meeting to Tuesday so that the district Governor can attend the Kaitaia cub on the Wednesday).

  • Five Minute Speaker Jim introduced the Kaikohe Business Association’s draft plan for the park at the eastern entrance to Kaikohe.

  • Guest Speakers Louis and Sue Toorenberg

    • Louis is originally from Holland and came to New Zealand via Australia.

    • He moved to the Hokianga in 1975, and he has been at his present location at the Waiotemarama Falls Lodge since 1981.

    • Louis has always been interested in puzzles and now has 3,000 puzzles in his collection.

    • In 2007 he attended the International Puzzle Party in Australia.

    • Attractions at the Waiotemarama Falls Lodge include a maze, and the pregnant elephant.

    • Louis and Sue set up a large display of puzzles for members to peruse, and presented everyone with a free maze pass.
