16 January Meeting Report
  • Present - Bruce Killen, Bruce Gillies, Sue, Glenis, Stan, Valerie, Alan, Elizabeth, Keith, Jim, Liz, Keith, Don, Bill, Ray.
  • President Noel welcomed members to the first meeting of 2013, with a special welcome to Liz on her return from a long absence.
  • Makeups - Bruce Killen, Sue, Glenis, Valerie, Stan, Bill, Don, Ray, Jim, Noel - Kaikohe Show.
  • President Noel thanked members for their assistance at the show. Sales were down on last year, but we still made $2,100 profit. Special thanks to Ray and Viv for their work.
  • Half year subs are now due.
  • Suggestions for future meetings: Glenis is prepared to host a barbecue, possible power station visit, possible Ururangi Marae visit.
  • The Area One car rally is planned for 24 February.
  • Lil Day is staying with her family in Tauranga.
  • Heather is home and in better health.
  • Five Minute speaker Alan gave a thought-provoking speech about democracy at a national and local level, with examples from his interesting experiences in the United States.
  • In lieu of a guest speaker Sue was quiz-master for the evening.
    • The winning team was Jim, Glenis and Valerie, with a score of 18/30.
    • The booby prize went to an all male team, with a score of 8/30.
