19 December Meeting Report

    • We have received a letter of thanks from the Aged Care Centre for delivering Meals on Wheels in 2012 - see above to volunteer for this week.
    • Car Rally - 24 February.
    • Kaikohe Show - 12 January - see above.
    • Bill still has 12 Christmas Puddings.
    • We have been asked to help with the Heart Foundation street appeal - 15 February 2013 - see above.
    • Club members are invited to the Bay of Islands Golden Jubilee dinner - see above.
    • The Cake stall raised $371. Thanks to the helpers.
    • Glenis still had some cartoon books to sell, but they were all gone by the end of the meeting.
    • DARE caps and T shirts have arrived for Waima and Tautoro schools - to be delivered in the new year.
  • The club agreed that tonight’s Sergeant’s session money would be topped up to $300 to go to cyclone Evan relief.
  • Jim entertained and informed us with an illustrated talk about his Fiordland cruise experience.
  • Don spoke for five minutes about his recent six weeks away coach driving.
  • Noel closed the meeting with best wishes to all for the festive season and Bruce finished of with a quote from Dr Seuss - How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?

It came without ribbons.

It came without tags.

It came without packages, boxes or bags.

And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore.

Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.
