25 July Meeting Report (Reporter - Moengaroa)

  • Notices.
    • Subscriptions have been set at $250.00 per annum or $125.00 per every 6 months. If this amount could be paid at the beginning of the financial year that’s great, but if not it will be okay but it will benefit the club if paid at the beginning of every year.
    • Hokianga book Festival 8 September 2012. Fund $450.00 for young writers.
    • There seems to be no interest in the toy library.
    • Meals on wheels – Don needs numbers.
    • NZ Blood service – Heather needs numbers.
    • Reminder – District Governor’s visit – 14 September.
    • Conference Norfolk- numbers need to be confirmed.
    • Elizabeth – Foundation for the blind 23-24 October – street appeal.
    • Speech contest dates yet to be confirmed.
    • Cake stall 8 August – see Bill.
    • Kaikohe to Okaihau traverse 30 September.
  • DARE programme is merging with Blue Light – Account holding $3243.19. Officers remain the same. Chair Bill, Secretary Elizabeth, Treasurer Jim.
  • John Tapene introduced the head boy Richard Keepa and head girl Tasmyn McQueen from Northland College as our speakers for the night. John told of the two heads being chosen by their peers while they were still in year 12 and they then choose their own prefects. Richard is a local boy although born in Australia. Both students have learnt to be patient and understanding. They both enjoy their roles at the school and their last year at the school.
